Oxford

On Sunday Bernat and I went to Oxford! It was our 2 year anniversary the next day, but both of us work on Mondays so we decided to spend the previous day out somewhere nice.

Oxford is a beautiful city that is full of young people (because of the university) and also full of bikes! The bikes were everywhere, some of them even parked to advertise, like this one:

El domingo Bernat y yo fuimos a Oxford. El lunes era nuestro 2º aniversario, pero como ambos trabajábamos decidimos pasar el día anterior en algún lugar bonito.

Oxford es una ciudad preciosa llena de gente joven (debe ser por la universidad). También había un montón de bicis, y muchas de ellas servían para anunciar cosas:

The architecture is amazing. There are lots of historic buildings from different periods in the city. The Radcliffe Camera was built in the 18th century and was the first round library in the UK.

La arquitectura de Oxford es una pasada, hay un montón de edificios históricos de distintas épocas. The Radcliffe Camera se construyó en el siglo XVIII y fue la primera biblioteca redonda en el Reino Unido. 

The Divinity School (15th century) was built for university use, specially for lectures on theology.

The Divinity School (siglo XV) formaba parte de la universidad. Es donde se daban las clases de teología.

We also had a quick look in the covered market, where there were lots of little nice shops. We found quite a few Harry Potter related things because some parts of the movies were filmed in Oxford. Bernat kept saying "this was on the Harry Potter films!" aaaall the time.

También nos paseamos por el mercadillo cubierto, donde había bastantes tiendas interesantes. Encontramos muchas cosas relacionadas con Harry Potter, ya que algunas partes de las películas se grabaron en Oxford. Bernat no paró de decir "¡esto salía en Harry Potter!" durante todo el día. 

In the end we walked through a park and we heard people playing a match. We thought it would be football but when we got closer... they were playing quidditch! It was just like the sport they play in Harry Potter but on the ground - all of the players still had to hold a broom between their legs. I'm sure it can't be easy to run like that! It looked very fun but also a bit wild, and lots of the players ended up covered in mud. 

Por último, nos pusimos a pasear por un parque y oímos que a lo lejos había gente jugando un partido. Supusimos que sería de fútbol, pero al acercarnos ¡vimos que era quidditch! Era más o menos igual que lo que juegan en Harry Potter pero adaptado al suelo; todos los jugadores tenían que correr con una escoba entre las piernas, ¡no debe ser fácil! Tenía pinta de ser muy divertido, pero también un poco salvaje. Muchos de los jugadores estaban completamente cubiertos de barro... 

And when it finished they all did a conga dance! It really looks like the best sport in the world. I wish I'd gone to such a fun university!

Y cuando acabó el partido, se pusieron todos a bailar una conga. Parece el mejor deporte del mundo. ¡Ojalá hubiera ido a una universidad tan divertida!

By the way, Bernat took all the photos. I took my film camera so I won't see my photos until I finish the roll!

Por cierto, Bernat hizo todas las fotos. Yo me lleve mi camara analógica, así que no podré ver mis fotos hasta que no acabe el carrete
